I don't use line numbers in my #vim motions because
- I am a monkey who struggle with additions. 🐒
- And I use a 40% keyboard without num row. 🤕
So of course, I litteraly bowed in front of
flash.nvim ⚡
and stuck with it for the last 8 months!
It promotes a much more *natural* way of navigating a file by pattern matching, a lot like the "less" utility.
It’s not meant to be exhaustive, just a practical guide to help get things done with a lighter touch.

I also have the pandoc plugins so I can convert to different output formats.

Published publicly a fresh FOSS project today!... Don't get too excited though, as it be but a simple Vim script wrapper for the CLI DICT Client;

[Culture #Vim] Questions : 1-savez ce qu'est un « Vimdoka », et comment le devenir ?
2-connaissez-vous Vim depuis sa création en 1916 ?

Fediverse keeps bringing me much better new folks to follow. People with great work on the web. Interesting that some of them are also in big-corp-silos, but I didn't know because of "reasons"...
Today I met @veronicaexplains channel. Cool stuff there! With her, I got to know Vim Wiki, that looks like as a potential candidate to make me replace Obsidian.
Thanks, Veronika! I'm looking forward to what's coming next 🤩

I have a bad habit when I use #Vim... I always move the cursor to the left then "append" (`h + a`), instead of inserting directly (`i`).
I wonder if anybody is like me?

@bamboombibbitybop an interesting data point: my ancient laptop has been compiling this for the last 10 hours: rust from scratch, node 20 from scratch, giant pieces of electron. The inaccessibility of #vscode versus #vim or #emacs makes it a weird sort of luxury. It forces us into expensive #hardware for dubious purchases and locks out engineers who need to function at lower budgets.
That said, I’d say distros an #freebsd not having a faster / unbound-to-CPU solution are leaving adopters on the table.
It's taken me 15 years of using vim motions to discover something that it can't do.
It's surprisingly simple too.
"Move to next line with nothing on it" but no braces to signify a block.
Any tips for maintaining #Vim muscle memory without replacing current apps/workflows? Just looking for some "on-the-side" practice for now

@bamboombibbitybop I wish more people looked into hackability of their text editor where they spend a majority of their time (either with code or just writing documents). I like how #Emacs and #Vim allows you to do that but I can also see that as a big time investment.
For most people, they just want to get things done and not bother with the intricacies of their environment. I think it's a matter of choice and for better or worse, most people are not anal about their choice of software.
I feel sorry for people who believe VSCode / Visual Studio / JetBrains are the best ways to edit code. Those tools are so bloated and wasteful and busy, but more to my point, they're so dry and "professional" for lack of a better word. They aren't fun in any sense of the word.
#Vim and especially #Emacs on the other hand have ecosystems full of playful, fun functionality. Using them, to me, is like playing a game. I have fun editing text. I find joy in it.
Maybe I'm just autistic.
WOW: Bas Wilbers just dropped a Vim syntax file for HEF! 🍇🍬🍭
I need some #Vim (9) .vimrc examples for "inspiration" (e.g. something in the spirit of https://github.com/nvim-lua/kickstart.nvim) Simpler (less plugins) would be better for me at this point. What would you recommend?
🙏 My iOS app made it to the App Store, please help me get the word out and boost 🚀

As cursed as it is I love using #Notepad++ to code simple #Python projects due to its simplicity. (Yes, I do know #VIM and #eMACS exist!)
Ok. Day one of using @silverbulletmd in #Vim mode lead to already fixing some ugly UI glitches. Now thinking how to expand #Lua APIs to define Vim commands, bindings and other things. Also a reason to dive a bit deeper into @neovim which leans heavily on Lua. Also an interesting source of inspiration for Lua API design potentially.
In #Vim, I sometimes try to paste stuff using Ctrl-V instead of Shift-Ctrl-V. So, instead of the terminal pasting something, Vim will be armed to insert the next keypress literally (see :help i_CTRL-V).
And once Vim displaying "^" makes me realize my mistake, the intuitive thing for me to do is to press backspace (to get rid of the "^").
Which usually makes me laugh, because now Vim says "<BS>", and I think "yeah, that was some bullshit indeed 🙈".
Although familiarity with usual vim still comes in handy on the school computer 😅
Oddly tempted to try to switch to #Vim (realistically @neovim ) again for code editing. And switching on vim mode in @silverbulletmd
Trigger: the realization that anything not purely open source (like VS Code) eventually #enshittifies
